To the Esteemed President of the Russian Federation,
Mr Vladimir Putin

 

 

Ten days

 

Ten days are not enough

To empty the oceans 

Of toil, tears, and blood

Carved bare and rough

Into peoples’ nations

Tainting fields’ mud ?

 

But ten days are good

To unfold balled fists

Into the open hands

Usher a noble mood

To clear out the lists

Of feuds between lands

 

It does not matter who 

Is Jacob, and who Esau

For it is Abel’s cry

Unto us, Cain’s foe

That in this morning glow

Refuses to go die

 

Has God himself to bow

To His Earth in pains

Chastising the violent ?

Or will this dawn’s glow

Hear that peace remains

Our aim benevolent ?

 

I am a poor fool lone

Grasping David’s harp

To soften hearts angry:

By these chants alone

Will no sword unsharp,

But words are less hungry

 

So, pleased be God

Peoples, poets and mothers

And may a table be set

At a look, at your nod

To welcome sides, others

And us alive be let
